Crazy Creatures are proud to announce that we are qualified and specialize in some exclusive concepts with our specialist field of ‘Creature Comfort’ for 1-1 visits, SEN, Autism, EHCP/EATOS children, care homes, Vision/hearing impairments, disability charities, mental health and rehabilitation.
We have regular slots for 1-1 participants at Woodside, either as Alternative Provision, or by private arrangement.
With qualifications in Mental Health First aid, SEND, safeguarding/child protection, emergency first aid and level 3 Animal assisted therapy, the team are perfectly equipped for all levels of animal engagement.
We are also registering for the AQA award scheme with UAS, with a view to soon offering accredited certification for all levels and abilities.
All sessions are tailored specifically for the participant with personal goals and/or learning outcomes in mind. These can include confidence building, reducing anxiety, awareness, building transferable skills, communication, providing calm, academic support, animal management skills and improving cognitive function & dexterity.
Activities include a wide variety of hands-on animal interaction, animal husbandry, learning, crafts, basic DIY skills, projects, wildlife & nature and gardening.
If your child/young person has an EHCP, there are a couple of referral routes depending on your agreement/how the funding options are managed. Some are sent directly from the school, and a lot of specialist SEN schools and provisions will offer this option. The mainstream schools will usually support the options for alternative provision, but may not allow extra-curricular sessions during school hours, depending again on the arrangement & level of EHCP and funding etc.
Our young people book in minimum term blocks, and visit either weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Cost for these are £60 for a 1.5hr session, and they spend that time at the site with one of our keepers 1-1. (Some parents/guardians/teachers stay throughout). We have a wide range of animals from reptiles, invertebrates, dogs, sheep, poultry, owls, miniature horses etc.
If you aren’t sure on your EHCP funding agreements, we can also put you in touch with a local organisation to help arrange the provisions for you and point in the right directions.
For private referrals, we also offer these (£60 for 1.5hr) or the 1 hour emotional support sessions for (£30), without necessarily the need for an EHCP or SENCO involvement.
We are proud to work in the past alongside NHS, councils, schools, SEN charities, youth centres/day centres, children’s homes, therapists, rehab centres, Julia’s House, Naomi hospice, SEN schools and many more.
