Gorgeous Zulu is 31.5" tall and is super friendly, cuddly, inquisitive, brave, quiet, and loves human company. Lovely tiny Copper is a whole 28" tall, happy, sensible and utterly adorable!
Baby Nemo (born March 2023) is a bundle of fun, and lovable cheekiness, and is learning fast how to win over all the visitors here at Woodside!
Our horses are very soft natured, gentle and calm and perfectly suited for SEND settings, sensory sessions, education & wellbeing visits. They are very popular and beneficial for all ages. They also make a perfect treat for animal/horse-mad children adults for a special exclusive session for birthdays etc!
The benefits of animals as assisted therapy for all ages is very well documented and scientifically proven, and Copper & Zulu offer this in every aspect.
See our 'SEN' page for a few of the reasons that animal interaction is so important for both physical and emotional wellbeing.
Horses are an incredible animal, and have worked alongside and supported humans for many, many years. We can discover some of these history topics in education settings, as well as discussing the reasons why horses are such a special companion.
Our miniature horses are ideal for interaction for both children & adults with autism/Asperger's, SEND and physical disabilities, as well as perfect for mental/emotional health support and wellbeing. Not only does stroking/grooming instill calm, release endorphins and lower blood pressure, but builds confidence, communication, trust and relationships with mutual respect and understanding.
With the opportunity to get hands-on, independent interaction, grooming, husbandry and leading (under supervision) to complete obstacles, or walk out on the forest & lanes, this also gives a chance to experience a special level of communication, build trust and respect and form a bond.
For more details on our sessions with the horses, availability and prices, contact us! We can offer tailored options from 1:1 sessions, to group activity and 'own a pony' days.
In September 2023, we were joined by gorgeous baby 'Geronimo' (Nemo) at just 5 months old! He is every bit as beautiful as his photos, and a great opportunity for our visitors and regular participants to have the opportunity to get up close and work with (plus cuddle!!) a young horse! We hope that, in time, he will join the older two in all equine assisted therapy activities, and he has plenty of love to give in the meantime!
